seasons over

oh the rushing around the 4 oclock start and the smell of fresh bread is over for another season, thank you to all of you who have visited over the summer months,  we will be back next may for another baking season.

boat in trouble

and it happens all to often, someone borrows/rents their friends boat for a holiday  expecting the boat to be in good shape only to find that the maintenance was not kept up and at the start of their holiday they find themselves in trouble.... such a boat came into the bay and called for help as their were taking on water and their pumps were not working,  we hurried over with our pumps and helped them pump out the sea water only to find a small fitting has broken off and was letting in the sea water.  by the time they discovered the leak it had shorted out their batteries and flooded the moter.. a simple repair job but not done in time.  now the renters/holidayers are faced with a huge mounting bill and it is the end of their holiday...The owner is telling them that they are responsable for the repairs. is this fair!!! NO, but without having a machanic check the boat out before they left there is no recourse...  If they had purchased vessel assist as part of their holiday they would have been covered for at least the tow bill. stuck in a country that is not their own, with mounting bills is a stressful event to say the least.    To educated yourself on the pros and cons of chartering a boat from your friend or from a charter group is well worth the effort.

BC Day on This coming monday

Another long weekend for BC'ers....  Monday is BC day and it looks like the sun is going to shine so there will be lots of boaters out.  Hope to see you all in Montague this weekend...

30+ Knots of wind

and it is not fun... it has been blowing here in ganges harbour since early this afternoon and the gusts just keep on coming.   this is some wicked place when the winds blow..... a few boats have done the dragging dance early on when it started but now everyone is settled and seems to be hanging on..... highest recored gust so far is 38 knots..... ugh.. Can we all say ANCHOR WATCH?>>>>>

It's Saturday

morning friends,

the outlook for today is not the greatest but on the upswing it means there is lots of room in the parks today,  it is parks day today so entry into the parks is free today.  get out there and check out a park near you...  here in montague there are some empty buoys and there is lots of room for anchoring, There has been whales spotted just inside Montague harbour the last couple of weeks. We have not been lucky enough to spy them yet!! but there is always hope...   Ganges is having their open air market from 8.00 to 4.00 every saturday, ....

yes it's true, they follow us around from bay to  bay and generally make a nusance of themselves...  what's a person to do!!!!

The long weekend is over, wall to wall boats in the bay over the weekend,

there was fun in the sun this past weekend, thanks to all who stopped by......

No Vacancy

wow the bay is filling up, all the park buoys are full, anchorage is getting full, boats are rafting in groups of 5 and six and it is only thursday night!!!!!... let the weekend begin.....

NO moorage july 1st

Ganges government dock, the big breakwater, has signs up that say"NO MOORAGE AFTER 4PM JULY 1ST DUE TO FIREWORKS"   so if you are needing the pump out out get it done before 4 or just some day moorage try the ganges marina or the government dock that is farther in...

ya for the firworks....

The Long weekend

is just about here,  the buoys are full this morning at |Montague park, there should be movement around 10 this morning and some will be opening up,  there are lots of anchored boats, some rafting together still lots of room for more.   The wind has been breezy for the last couple of days, we encountered 25+ knots leaving ganges yesterday and it is still blowing up to 15 knots here in Montague...  the sky is overcast but lets hope we see the sun...  the pies are in, the bread is rasing...
